Hanoi’s National Innovation Day 2025: A beacon for Vietnam’s technological ambition

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Innovation Centre at Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on October 1 became the epicentre of Vietnam’s aspirations for a tech-driven future, hosting a ceremony to mark the National Innovation Day as part of the Vietnam International Innovation Expo (VIIE 2025), which runs through October 3.

Co-organised by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, the event drew Party and State leaders, representatives from ministries, local authorities, businesses, research institutes, universities, investment funds, and international organisations, all gathered under the banner of innovation.

In 2024, the Prime Minister declared October 1 as Vietnam’s National Innovation Day, and the 2025 iteration underscores the Party and State’s unwavering commitment to embedding innovation at the core of socio-economic progress to elevate productivity, sharpen competitiveness, and champion sustainable development. It also celebrates bold ideas and looks to nurture a holistic innovation ecosystem.

The National Innovation Day 2025 is a vital link for Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem, fostering a spirit of creativity, ambition, while signaling the country’s dedication to global integration, a stepping stone toward its goal of achieving high-income status by 2045.

Party General Secretary To Lam, speaking at the ceremony, framed the event as both a historic first and a clarion call to unlock Vietnam’s intellectual potential, propelling the nation toward fast and sustainable development in an era defined by digital transformation.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung highlighted the event’s role in amplifying public awareness of the role of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. It also honours standout creative ideas across sectors and fuels the expansion of Vietnam’s innovation ecosystem.

Organisers also announced the Provincial Innovation Index (PII 2025) and launched several programmes backed by businesses, international organisations, and experts.

The Innovation Policy Forum, chaired by the Ministry of Science and Technology, introduced new and exceptional policies and mechanisms, showcased best-practice models, while creating an open platform for regulators, experts, enterprises, and investors to share insights and measures for advancing innovation.

VIIE 2025 attracted hundreds of tech firms, research institutions, and startups from Vietnam, the US, Germany, France, and Japan, anticipating over 40,000 visitors.

The exhibition displayed cutting-edge products and technologies across 11 key sectors, as outlined in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg, dated June 12, 2025

A standout forum on innovation and strategic technologies featured global titans like NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and Meta, with discussions zeroing in on semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and aerospace. It bridged Vietnamese firms to connect with global players for research, technology transfer, and commercialisation.

Additional events included workshops on cultivating a skilled workforce and advancing STEM education, the launch of the 2026 National VEX Robotics Championship, recognition of Vietnamese teams excelling in global STEM competitions, and interactive experiences like electric vehicle test drives and STEM activities for students. Vietnam, IAEA review national nuclear power infrastructure

From December 1–11, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) through the Vietnam Agency for Radiation and Nuclear Safety is coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to host an Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Review (INIR) Mission in Hanoi. Alliance launched to strengthen high-quality semiconductor workforce training

Children’s views gathered to shape online cyber security policies

The survey found that 27.1% of children use the Internet for less than 1 hour per day, 50% for 1–3 hours, 18.8% for 4–6 hours, and 2.3% for more than 10 hours, he said, noting that the findings provide a comprehensive view of children’s Internet usage and risks related to personal safety on cyberspace.
