HCM City receives first train for Metro Line No 1

The Management Authority for Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony on October 13 to receive the first train for the city’s Metro Line No 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

HCM City(VNA) - The Management Authority for Urban Railways of Ho Chi Minh City held aceremony on October 13 to receive the first train for the city’s Metro Line No1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).

The train will be testedat Long Binh Depot in District 9 - the repair and maintenance workshop - in thefirst quarter of next year before being moved to Binh Thai in the third quarterand to Tan Cang in the fourth quarter of the year.

It will then be putinto trial operation together with all other systems of the metro line, such aspower, signal, and track systems.

The three-carriagetrain, one of the 17 for the urban railway, arrived in the city’s Khanh HoiPort on October 8 from Kasado Port in Japan.

The blue train is 61.5 metres in length, threemetres wide, and four metres high, with a maximum speed of 110 km/h and seatsalso of blue. It can carry some 930 passengers, with 783 standing.

Construction of the city’s first metro linebetween Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and the Suoi Tien Theme Park in District9 is expected to be completed within the next few months, with services to beunderway by the end of next year.

It will have 14 stations, three of themunderground. There will be 17 trains with three carriages each that will run ata maximum speed of 110 km/h above ground and 80 km/h below ground.

The 2.05 billion USD line is the first of atleast six to be built in the city.

Addressing theceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong askedthe Management Authority as well as contractors and consultation agencies to workharder together to speed up project progress.

The city will createoptimal conditions for Metro Line No 1 to be completed on schedule, he said,adding that the project will help deepen links between the city and Japan.

For his part, JapaneseAmbassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio said that despite the impact of COVID-19,the Vietnamese side has still managed to welcome technicians and experts fromJapan to work on the project.

He expressed a beliefthat the project will contribute to improving traffic conditions in the city, helpingto speed up socio-economic recovery after the pandemic./.

Phu Quoc tightens inland waterway safety, traffic management

Attracting high-quality talent to strategic science, technology fields

Under the decree, students admitted to eligible programmes who meet entrance score requirements or are directly admitted, and rank among the top 30% of entrants, will be eligible for Government scholarships. The scholarships will be renewed annually based on academic performance and conduct.

Tireless efforts made to restore the names of fallen soldiers

Quang Ngai currently has 127 martyrs' cemeteries containing 37,689 graves, including 26 collective ones. Of these, 16,758 have complete information, 5,134 contain partial information, while 15,771 remain unidentified. Around 6,000 martyrs from the province have yet to have their remains located.

Dak Lak team presses on with search for fallen soldiers

During the 2025–2026 dry season, Team K51 recovered and repatriated the remains of 27 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia. The achievement came after nearly seven months of searching through forests, crossing streams and following even the smallest leads.

Unlocking value of archives in search for fallen soldiers’ identities

Once digitisation is completed and a unified database is established, searches will become much faster and more accurate, providing an important foundation for the search for, recovery and identification of martyrs’ remains and for better implementing policies for people with meritorious service.

Mortal remains of Indian victims in Phu Quoc speedboat accident repatriated

"I Love My Fatherland" journey reaches Lung Cu Flag Tower
