Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia still plans to purchase 50 aircraft from Boeing as part of a reciprocal trade agreement with the US, according to Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani.
Rosan said the long-discussed aircraft acquisition remains active, although negotiations are still ongoing.
The proposal had previously surfaced but saw little progress, including its absence from the capital spending plans of national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia, which is expected to operate the planes.
Rosan said detailed talks with Boeing are continuing, but he could not yet disclose the total transaction value or delivery timeline.
Beyond aircraft procurement, Indonesia has also committed to purchasing around 15 billion USD worth of US oil and other energy products annually as part of the broader bilateral trade package, Rosan added.
Under the agreement signed during President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the US, Indonesia secured zero import tariffs on 1,819 priority Indonesian products entering the US market./.

The Indonesian government said that the agricultural portion of these pledges was worth 2.5 billion USD. The industrial sector MoUs reached 35.9 billion USD in value, including the cooperation on semiconductors and strategic industrial materials.
