Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Informatics has launched the ASEANpedia e-book at https://s.id/aseanpedia as part of activities during the country's 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship.

Addressing the launching ceremony on April 10, Usman Kasong, the ministry's Director General for Information and Public Communication (IKP) said as the theme of Indonesia's ASEAN Chairmanship is ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth, this book is expected to provide understanding to the public that ASEAN is relevant to contribute to becoming the centre of the world's economic growth.

The official stated that ASEANpedia is not only for providing knowledge about ASEAN, but also to instil an attitude within the public that ASEAN is relevant in contributing to geopolitics and geoeconomics.  

Usman hopes that the e-book can serve as reference for finding information about ASEAN and Indonesia's Chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023 as well as the successes of ASEAN both geoeconomically and geopolitically.

The information provided is divided into three chapters, namely basic information on ASEAN, Indonesia's role in ASEAN, and Indonesia's Chairmanship in 2023. It is presented in two languages, Indonesian and English.

In the first section, ASEANPedia takes readers through the history of ASEAN, from the Bangkok Declaration, ASEAN Charter, membership requirements, its official song to the organisation's role in the world.

The second part of ASEANPedia writes about the contribution of Adam Malik, one the founder of ASEAN, Indonesia's role in reconciling various conflicts involving member states.

The third section explores things related to the Indonesian Chairmanship of ASEAN 2023, from the vision and mission, the meaning of the theme and logo, to the location of the Summit meeting./.
