Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesia's Semeru volcano erupted on November 19, prompting the country's volcanology agency to raise the alert level of Java Island's tallest mountain to the highest.
The 3,676-metre volcano spewed ash clouds as high as 2,000 metres above the mountain's peak, the agency said, adding residents should keep to a 2.5-kilometre distance away due to risks.
Semeru is one of Indonesia's nearly 130 active volcanoes./.
