Israel wants to forge links with the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in hi-tech agriculture, human resources, e-government and health care, an Israeli diplomat has said.

At a meeting with Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Hung Dung on August 27, Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam Meirav Eilon Shahar said her country is willing to share its experience with the city in technology development, which contributes to Israel’s economic growth.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed plans to bolster their ties in the coming time, especially in science and technology.

Israel is implementing a model of breeding dairy cow applying advanced technologies in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City, Shahar said, adding that Can Tho can send its experts to learn from this.

According to the ambassador, the Israeli Government has worked out a detailed plan on student exchange between its universities and those from Can Tho.

In addition, Israel will also organise workshops on hi-tech agriculture, post-harvest preservation, water use and loss reduction in Can Tho in the time to come.

She said she will do her utmost to connect Israeli enterprises with partners in the Vietnamese locality.

For his part, Dung briefed the guest on the locality’s socio-economic development, and revealed that Can Tho is calling for investment in agriculture, personnel training, health care, water resource management and use.

He pledged to create favourable conditions on administrative procedures for Israeli enterprises to invest and operate in the city.-VNA
