HCM City (VNA) – Vietnam Nutrition Food JSC (NutiFood) and Japanese beverage group Asahi, the owner of baby food brand Wakodo, on January 10 announced the establishment of their joint venture, aiming to bring nutritional products for children that fit Japanese standards into Vietnamese market.

The joint venture, called Asahi-NutiFood, is set up to take advantage of each side’s strengths, with NutiFood having long-term business experience, extensive distribution channels and deep understanding of Vietnamese children’s nutrition, and Asahi holding expertise in production of high-quality powdered milk and baby food.

In the initial phase, the nutrition products, made under the advice of NutiFood experts to suit Vietnamese children, will be directly imported from the Japan-based factories of Asahi.

According to Shoyama Katsuo, President of Asahi Group, WAKODO is one of the brands that have brought tidy profit to the group, and it is now the leading brand in Japan.

As Vietnam is a potential market, Asahi decided to choose NutiFood as it partner to conquer Vietnamese consumers, he said.

Meanwhile, Tran Thi Le, General Director of the joint venture, underlined that the firm will support healthy growth and development of Vietnamese infants and children, and it pledged to provide the best nutritional value and help Vietnamese mothers with Japanese healthcare and educational knowledge.

Earlier, NutiFood received a certificate from the US Food and Drug Administration and was able to export a special nutritional supplement for children to eat better to the US. Besides, it has cooperated with Swedish-based Backahill Company and BASF group to apply international standards in producing dairy products for children.-VNA
