Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has told the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa to review its planning, with more focus on its potential for socio-economic development, especially in tourism, services and seaport.

The PM issued the advice while meeting with the province’s leaders in Nha Trang city on April 2 as part of a working visit to the locality.

Emphasising the need for Khanh Hoa to focus on both preservation and development objectives of the projects, the Government leader asked the province to closely collaborate with relevant ministries and agencies to take effective measures.

“Khanh Hoa should continue paying attention to reducing poverty, especially in remote and mountainous areas, in combination with building new-style rural areas, supporting production, and improving the local people’s material and spiritual lives,” he said.

He also urged the province to invest more in infrastructure development, health care, culture and education while removing difficulties for businesses and accelerating administrative reforms.

Hailing efforts and achievements the local authorities and people have made in socio-economic development, PM Dung also expressed his wish that Khanh Hoa will fix its shortcomings, such as unsustainable socio-economic development and slow administrative reform, so as to become an industrialised province in the near future.

According to reports, the province recorded a GDP growth of 6.6 percent and its industrial production index increased 7.1 percent in the first quarter of this year.-VNA
