Officials of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea met on August 5 to review a project on establishing an electronic manifest system for the integrated management of hazardous waste in Vietnam funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The so-called E-Manifest Project was started in 2010 and is expected to wrap up at the end of this year.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen said besides the electronic manifest system, the project also aims to enhance capacity for Vietnam environment managers, and those operating in the field. An e-government model for managing hazardous waste and environment was also developed in the framework of the project.

KOICA chief representative in Vietnam Chang Jae Jun said Vietnam is now an extremely important partner of his agency, affirming that KOICA will continue assisting Vietnam in other fields in the future.-VNA
