Lang Son works to eliminate 2,472 substandard houses by April 30

Lang Son (VNA) – The northern province of Lang Son is working to complete the construction of 951 houses and repair of 1,521 other for poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged families by April 30 as part a nationwide campaign on joining hands to eradicate temporary and dilapidated housing.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Hoang Van Nghiem said that the province has to date built 928 new houses and repaired 1.098 houses for households.

Organisations, individuals and the business community inside and outside the province have donated over 176.7 billion VND (7 million USD) to the province’s housing support programme, Nghiem said.

Local authorities on March 17 held a ceremony to honour organisations for their contribution to the province’s efforts in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.

Last year, the province identified more than 7,000 households with temporary and dilapidated houses.

In the 2021-2023 period, the province provided housing support for 4,146 nation contributors, poor, near poor and needy families with a total fund of over 213 billion VND./.

Binh Thuan ramps up measures to combat IUU fishing

According to the Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has completed registration for all “three-no” fishing boats - vessels without registration, licences or monitoring systems - measuring six metres or more. Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.

Second government legislation meeting reviews draft bills
