Lao Cai (VNA) – A ceremony was held in Lao Cai province on June 19 to mark the northern mountainous province’s completion of its goal to eliminate all temporary and dilapidated houses, part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Prime Minister.
With strong support from local authorities, businesses, organisations, and residents, the province has successfully built or repaired 10,707 homes for disadvantaged households, including war veterans, families of martyrs, ethnic minority people, and low-income residents. The effort mobilised nearly 1.09 trillion VND (41 million USD) and over 19,500 volunteer workdays.
Speaking at the event, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lao cai Trinh Xuan Truong praised the collective effort and emphasised that around 70% of the houses were newly built.
He urged continued communications to promote self-reliance among residents and to ensure the long-term use of the new homes.
Truong also asked for faster issuance of land use right certificates for the beneficiary households, targeting completion by July 2025.
On this occasion, 17 collectives and 13 individuals were presented with certificates of merit from the provincial People's Committee in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the campaign./.
