Malaysia launches portal to facilitate online business registrations

Malaysia has launched its MalaysiaBiz portal, which serves as a one stop centre to facilitate online business registrations and licensing applications, aiming to create a trade-friendly environment to encourage competitiveness and spur local economic growth.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia has launched itsMalaysiaBiz portal, which serves as a one stop centre to facilitate onlinebusiness registrations and licensing applications, aiming to create atrade-friendly environment to encourage competitiveness and spur local economicgrowth.

The MalaysiaBiz Portal (https://malaysiabiz.gov.my) is anonline system that integrates 17 government agencies to enable traders to get servicesthrough one gateway. It is part of efforts in sustaining public servicedelivery improvement in moving towards digital government.

In his speech at the launch, Malaysian Prime MinisterMuhyiddin Yassin said the portal was developed as the government realised theimportance of digital platforms in businesses and contributions of small- andmedium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to national income.

Muhyiddin said SMEs contributed 38.9 percent of grossdomestic product (GDP) in 2019 and the figure is expected to reach 50 percentby 2030.

He said as the trend of online shopping these days showsthat SMEs have the potential to grow rapidly, measures to generate SME growthwill continue to be given priority./.
