Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian Government has secured more than 30 million RM (7 million USD) in private sponsorship to cover the broadcast of selected 2018 World Cup football matches, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

The sponsors in turn will have airtime for their advertisements during the World Cup screening.

The 30 million RM fund will be used to purchase the rights to broadcast 41 of the 64 matches, of which 27 will be shown live. This means the cost for taxpayers and the Government to run the telecasts is now zero.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in 12 stadiums in Russia from June 14 to July 15.-VNA
