Hanoi (VNA) - Police in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai on June 16 arrested two men for illegally trafficking 23 bricks of heroin (about 8.5kg).

The traffickers are Giang A Pao, born in 1979, from Huoi Lech commune, Muong Le district, the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien; and Vang A Phia, born in 1982, from Phi Nhu commune, Dien Bien Dong district, Dien Bien province.

They were seized in Ban Quan hamlet, Ban Phiet commune, Bao Thang district, Lao Cai province.  Apart from the bricks of heroin, local police also collected 17 million VND (748 USD) and relevant documents.

Phia said he was hired by his relative to transport the amount of heroin from Lao Cai to Dien Bien. He asked Pao to go with him. They intended to sell the heroin with the price of 135 million VND (5,940 USD) per brick. 

On June 15, police in the central province of Thanh Hoa arrested a man for illegally storing 6,000 meth pills in his house.

Giang A Su, born in 1982, from Trung Ly commune, Muong Lat district, said a man in Vien Xay district, Houaphan province of Laos, asked him to keep the meth pills nearly five months ago. The man promised to give Su 4 million VND when he comes back to take the meth.-VNA
