Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list ofselected news summaries last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 19 attended aget-together held by the Air Defence-Air Force to mark the 50th anniversary ofthe "Dien Bien Phu in the air" victory in 1972.

The event brought together leaders of the Ministryof National Defence, revolutionaries, war veterans and history witnesses whodirectly contributed to the victory. Read full story

- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, Secretaryof the Party Delegation to the National Assembly, on December 19 chaired ameeting between the NA Party Delegation and the Standing Board of the PartyCommittee of Ho Chi Minh City on devising a project to build a draft resolutionon pilot mechanisms and policies for the development of the city to replace theNA's Resolution 54.

The mechanisms and policies have been piloted inthe city since January 2018 following Resolution 54, with a duration of fiveyears. Read full story

Top leader’s visits opening new phase of deeper, more effective ties with India, Sri Lanka: FM

Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung described the visits as particularly important and historic, taking place at a meaningful moment as Vietnam and India mark the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and just one month after the top leader of Vietnam assumed his new position. For Sri Lanka, this was the highest-level visit by a Vietnamese leader since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
