- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi on January 16 early morning for his attendance at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF-54) in Davos, Switzerland and official visits to Hungary and Romania from January 16-23. Read full story

- Following his attendance at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF-54) in Davos, Switzerland, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, accompanied by his spouse and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam, will embark on an official visit to Hungary at the invitation of Hungarian PM Viktor Orban, marking the two countries' first exchange of delegations at the PM level in the past seven years.

Chairman of the Vietnam-Hungary Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City Prof. Le Minh Triet underscored Hungary's historical significance as one of the first countries to recognise Vietnam's independence. Read full story

- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue asked legislators to thoroughly scrutinise the draft revised land law so as to ensure its highest quality, while delivering opening remarks at the fifth extraordinary meeting of the 15th legislature on January 15.

The document, together with the draft revised law on credit institutions, is expected to be adopted at the meeting, which will conclude on January 18. Read full story

- Vietnam always attaches importance to developing friendship and multifaceted cooperation with its traditional partner countries, of which the Czech Republic is one of the priority partners, said National Assembly Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong.

During a reception in Hanoi on January 15 for Zbyněk Linhart, Chairman of the Czech Republic Senate’s Committee for Land Development, Public Administration, and Environment, Phuong underscored the nearly 75-year history of diplomatic ties between the two countries marked by consistent high-level exchanges. Read full story

- The Malaysian national news agency Bernama on January 15 published an interview with Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh, under the headline "Vietnam, Malaysia to forge stronger defence, security ties after golden anniversary”.

The article wrote that Vietnam and Malaysia are intensifying their collaboration in defence and security in fostering regional peace and stability – a commitment which emphasises the significance of the 50th anniversary celebrations observed in 2023. Read full story

- Vietnamese intellectuals living and working in Switzerland said they are interested in current issues that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will discuss at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF-54) in Davos, Switzerland from January 16, and showed their optimism about the success of the Vietnamese leader’s working trip.

- Vietnamese and Japanese healthcare firms engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing their cooperation during their working session in the Japanese prefecture of Shizuoka on January 15.

- The People’s Court of Dak Lak will open the first-instance trial on January 16 for 100 defendants involved in a case of "terrorism aimed at opposing the people's administration, terrorism, organising illegal exit or entry for others, and harbouring criminals,” which happened in Cu Kuin district in the Central Highlands province on June 11, 2023.

Of the defendants, 53 will be brought to the court for "terrorism aimed at opposing the people's administration", 39 for “terrorism,” one for “organising illegal exit or entry for others,” and one for “harbouring criminals” under Clause 1, Article 389 of the Criminal Code. Read full story
