– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired ameeting attended by ministries and sectors on July 28 to discuss short- andlong-term measures for keeping inflation under control, stabilising themacro-economy, and promoting socio-economic recovery and development.

Themeeting took place after the US Federal Reserve (FED) raised interest rates by0.75 percentage points on July 27, while central banks in many countries havealso repeatedly hiked interest rates in response to soaring inflation.Read full story

– Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai hasordered the acceleration of the disbursement of financial packages serving thesocio-economic recovery programme, particularly rent subsidy for workers aswell as support in terms of interest rate for firms and cooperatives.

Atthe first meeting of the Steering Committee for the implementation of thesocio-economic recovery programme, Khai, who heads the committee, said only 19days after the approval of the National Assembly’s Resolution 43 on fiscal andmonetary policies supporting socio-economic recovery and development programme,the Government issued Resolution 11 on the programme. Read full story

– The numbers of enterprises and employeesworking in the non-state and FDI sectors increased rapidly, but reducedmarkedly in the state-owned sector during 2016-2020, according to the GeneralStatistics Office of Vietnam (GSO)’s freshly released 2021 economic census. The non-state sector had 660,100 businesses in 2020, accounting for 96.4% ofVietnam’s total, up 35.1% from 2016. The sector attracted 8.6 million workers,or 58.6% of the country’s workforce, increasing by 0.4% compared to 2016. Read full story

Vietnamese Prime Minister hosts official welcome ceremony for Japanese counterpart

Japan stands as Vietnam’s largest bilateral supplier of official development assistance (ODA), the top partner in labour cooperation, the third largest foreign investor, and the fourth largest partner in trade and tourism. Bilateral trade reached 47.6 billion USD in 2022, 44.98 billion USD in 2023, and 46.2 billion USD in 2024, and 12 billion USD in the first quarter of 2025 alone.
