Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last weekend by the Vietnam News Agency.

- The merger of Nam Dinh, Ha Nam, and Ninh Binh provinces in northern Vietnam will shape up a unified development space that integrates and promotes each locality’s strength, creating a powerful and sustainable growth driver, Party General Secretary To Lam said on June 23.

At a working session with the Standing Boards of the Party Committees of the three localities in Nam Dinh, the Party chief underscored that the merger is expected to facilitate harmonious infrastructure planning across the areas of transport, urbanisation, industry, tourism, services, and agriculture. It will also create favourable conditions to develop economic corridors from mountainous to delta and coastal areas, unlocking inter-regional trade, tourism, and logistics potential. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a meeting in Hanoi on June 23, urging permanent Cabinet members, ministries, and agencies to respond to escalating Middle East conflicts and other global disruptions that threaten Vietnam’s economic trajectory.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh called on every citizen to act as a “soldier” in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeiting, and intellectual property violations, while also encouraging them to be smart consumers.

His remarks were made during a nationwide online conference on June 23, which reviewed efforts to combat, prevent, and curb smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property rights violations in the first half of 2025, as well as during the peak enforcement period from May 15 to June 15, 2025. - National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh received Lee In-sun, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Gender Equality and Family Committee of the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Hanoi on June 23.

- Bookings from Korean tourists for all-inclusive tours to Sapa in Vietnam's Lao Cai province in the first half of 2025 surged by 333% compared to the same period in 2024, according to Hana Tour – the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s largest travel agency.

NA Vice Chairman inspects election preparations in Quang Tri

NA Standing Committee inspects election preparations in Ca Mau

In Ca Mau, 13 candidates have been introduced for the National Assembly, 73 for the provincial People’s Council, and 1,469 for commune-level People’s Councils. The provincial election committee has designated five NA constituencies and 18 constituencies for People’s Councils at provincial and commune levels.
