Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar on June 26 destroyed narcotic drugs and precursors worth 297.95 million USD to mark the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a police report said.
The illegal drugs and materials, seized from around the country, were burnt in its three major cities of Yangon, Mandalay, and Taunggyi.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said in May that 2024’s seizures of methamphetamine in East and Southeast Asia were a record high, totaling 236 tonnes, marking an increase of 24% compared to 2023./.
Indonesia prioritises drugs combat
Head of the National Narcotics Agency of Indonesia (BNN) Marthinus Hukom stated on January 22 that Prabowo Subianto is the first President to make drugs combat one of the country’s priority programmes, as outlined in the Asta Cita mission.
