Hanoi (VNA) - Myanmar is willing to work together with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to safeguard the country’s stability and implement the relevant consensus, Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) and Commander-in-chief of Defense Services Min Aung Hlaing has said.

He made the remarks on June 5 during a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai in Nay Pyi Taw, Xinhua news agency reported.

At the meeting, Min Aung Hlaing briefed the diplomat on the domestic situation, saying that the country is committed to promoting national stability, economic growth and improvement of people's livelihoods, and safeguarding democracy and the rule of law.

On June 4, ASEAN Secretary-General Lim Jock Hoi met with Min Aung Hlaing to discuss the current crisis in Myanmar.

At the ASEAN Leaders' Meeting held on April 24 in Jakarta, leaders of ASEAN countries reached a 5-point consensus on the situation in Myanmar, which demanded an immediate end to the violence. All parties must exercise restraint, conduct constructive dialogue to seek a peaceful solution, and offer humanitarian assistance to Myanmar people through the ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance (AHA), among others./.
