CanTho (VNA) – National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan metconstituents in Cai Rang and Phong Dien districts, the Mekong Delta city of CanTho on June 27 to inform them about outcomes of the recently-ended thirdsession of the 14th legislature.

Constituentsraised more than 30 opinions regarding site clearance and compensation fordisplaced residents, employment, rural infrastructure, health insurance and vocationaltraining, which were answered by local authorities.

Onsuggestions about site clearance and compensation, Ngan asked the municipalauthorities to protect people’s interests in the spirit of placing theirinterests above others and in line with the Law on Land while seeking solutionsto harmonising interests of parties concerned.

Sharingwith concerns over food security in face of site clearance for industrial zone andurban development, she said as part of the agricultural restructuring plan, theMinistry of Agriculture and Rural Development has zoned off rice cultivationacreage to ensure national food security. The NA also issued a Resolution toguarantee 3.8 million ha of rice farming.

Shealso explained regulations on lending for hi-tech production, saying thatincentives are provided for projects with outcomes certified by localauthorities.

Thetop legislator also answered questions regarding effective exploitation of CanTho airport, expansion of international Tan Son Nhat airport, construction ofLong Thanh airport, and management of information on the social media.

Onthe occasion, she also visited and presented gifts to several policybeneficiaries in Can Tho city and Phong Dien district.-VNA
