Hanoi (VNA) – Close to 500 Valletscholarships worth 10 million VND (428.39 USD) each were presented tooutstanding students from 58 high schools and six SOS villages in the north onAugust 23.
The Vallet Scholarship Fund was established in2001 by Professor Odon Vallet from France's Sorbonne University through theMeeting Vietnam organisation.
In 2018, the organisation aims to grant 2,200Vallet scholarships worth 25 billion VND (1.1 million USD) to students withexcellent academic performance across the country and those from SOS villages.
On August 23, the Red Cross Society from thecentral coastal city of Da Nang held a ceremony to present scholarships to 45needy students for the 2017-2018 academic year.
The programme was funded by a Swedish children’sorganisation. Each scholarship is worth 3 million VND (128 USD).-VNA
