Nghe An (VNA) – The central province of Nghe An has taken measures to develop the WesternNghe An Biosphere Reserve effectively and sustainably.
An inter-sectorcooperation mechanism was developed to protect, preserve and develop ecosystemservices, focused on establishing a management board for the Biosphere Reserve,completing relevant legal frameworks, biodiversity preservation, and ensuringeconomic development and household livelihoods.
The locality hasalso made plans for the Reserve and developing a biodiversity corridor.
Numerous projectshave been implemented to ensure sustainable livelihoods while protecting theenvironment and preserving local culture.
Intangible andtangible cultural and historical relic works have been upgraded with fundingand the community’s involvement.
The locality alsocalled on central agencies and international organisations to establishplatforms for biosphere reserves nationwide to support each other, as well asboost cooperation between the country’s biosphere reserve system and the systemsof reserves and heritage sites in Vietnam and the world, investment inconserving and developing Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve.
Western Nghe An isthe country’s largest Biosphere Reserve, covering nearly 1.3 million hectares,connecting three core areas, namely the Pu Mat National Park, the Pu Huongnature reserve, and the Pu Hoat nature reserve.-VNA
