Dien Bien (VNA) – A series of activities opened at May 7 Square in Dien Bien Phu ward, Dien Bien province, on September 19 as part of the 2025 Northwestern Quintessence – Dien Bien Festival, attracting a large number of locals and tourists.
The festival aims to promote the image of Dien Bien, foster tourism cooperation between six provinces in the expanded Northwest region and Ho Chi Minh City, and enhance relations with northern Lao provinces, China, and international partners.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Dien Bien provincial People’s Committee Vu A Bang described the Northwest as a frontier land with great tourism potential thanks to its majestic landscapes, diverse culture of over 30 ethnic groups, and proud revolutionary history. He stressed that the event helps honour traditional cultural values and build the unique “Northwestern Quintessence” brand.
Taking place until September 21, the festival includes an exhibition of nearly 210 artistic photos depicting the beauty of the nature, people and culture, along with development potential of Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Son La, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, and Dien Bien.
A destination showcase with over 40 booths of localities and travel companies will introduce outstanding tourism products, attractions, and new tours, expected to create a chance for boosting tourism links. A culinary festival presenting nearly 100 traditional dishes of northwestern localities, as well as conferences, seminars, and cultural performances will also take place.
The festival offers an opportunity to review cooperation results, seek sustainable development solutions, and strengthen tourism connectivity across the region./.
