Numerous activities to celebrate Vietnam – India diplomatic ties

A chain of diplomatic, economic, cultural and people-to-people exchange events will be jointly held by the Indian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, the municipal authorities and other southern localities in 2022 to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam – India diplomatic ties (1972-2022).

HCM City (VNA) – A chain of diplomatic, economic, cultural andpeople-to-people exchange events will be jointly held by the Indian Consulate General inHo Chi Minh City, the municipal authorities and other southern localities in 2022 to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of Vietnam – India diplomaticties (1972-2022).

The informationwas announced by Consul General of India in HCM City Madam Mohan Sethi at a pressconference on January 4.

The Indian diplomat spotlighted the sound development of the Vietnam – Indian relations, stressing that the two countrieshave shared a strong friendship over the last five decades and closely cooperatedacross fields in order to bring practical benefits to their people.

Heaffirmed that Vietnam is always India' important partner in ASEAN.

According to Sethi, the Indian Consulate General planned to host 125 tradeand investment promotion programmes, and exchange events among students and doctorsof the two nations.

Film screening programmes, exhibitions, workshops on Vietnam – India relationship,seminars, and other cultural events will be also included.

Tourism promotion activities will also be arranged to attract Indian touriststo Vietnam’s Nha Trang, Vung Tau and Phu Quoc, he added.

Sethi affirmed that he will do his utmost to promote friendshipsbetween 29 southern localities of Vietnam and Indian localities, and expand tradeties between the two countries’ localities towards lifting their two-way trade to14 billion USD.

Indianpartners will also boost cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in investmentpromotion, doctor training and exchange; enhance medical cooperation with NinhThuan province; help Tay Ninh train gifted students, and provide English training courses for officials of Kien Giang province, he added./.
