Over 100 athletes compete at Esports Championship Asia 2025 in Can Tho

The three-day event features over 100 athletes and referees from seven Asian countries, including China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. Competitors will battle in the official events League of Legends and CrossFire, while the showcase event highlights digital sports dance Stepin.

Can Tho (VNA) – The Esports Championship Asia 2025 (ECA 2025) kicked off on November 20 in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The three-day event features over 100 athletes and referees from seven Asian countries, including China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, the Philippines, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam. Competitors will battle in the official events League of Legends and CrossFire, while the showcase event highlights digital sports dance Stepin.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Nguyen Van Khoi described the championship as a vibrant and healthy platform that promotes the growth of the digital entertainment industry and enhances international cooperation.

He highlighted that hosting the event showcases Can Tho as a dynamic, creative city that blends tradition with modernity. The championship also aims to spread the message that Esports is a bridge of culture, creativity, and integration in the digital era, inspiring young people and attracting investment from global technology firms.

Can Tho has prepared extensively with modern facilities, technical infrastructure, security measures, traffic management, healthcare support, media promotion, and cultural exchanges to ensure the event’s success. The city hopes the championship will strengthen the Asian esports community, foster cultural exchange, and promote Can Tho as an international tourism destination.

According to Do Viet Hung, Vice President of the Asian Electronic Sports Federation, Can Tho was chosen to host ECA 2025 due to its strategic location in the Mekong Delta, modern sports and tourism infrastructure, and its strong cultural identity. The city’s blend of tradition, technology, and hospitality makes it an ideal venue for an Asian-scale esports competition, a platform for athletes to showcase talent, connect cultures, promote tourism, and spark creativity among young people./.

SEA Games 33: Shooting, Wushu secure silvers

SEA Games 33: Vietnam excels with record-breaking performances

The trio of Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trinh Thu Vinh and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong delivered an impressive performance in the women’s 10m air pistol team event on December 14. Competing with consistency and precision, the Vietnamese shooters amassed a total of 1,711 points to win the gold medal and shatter the SEA Games record.

Vietnam Pho Day launched in Europe amid broader culinary push

Prior to the launch, the Vietnamese Embassy encouraged businesses and restaurants throughout Germany to join in the event. By December 12, six partners had signed up via the We Love Pho organisation's website (welovepho.org), committing to promotional posts, website and social media shares, features in Vietnamese language media, and special discounts for pho customers during the event.

SEA Games 33: Vietnam win gold in women's canoe double

In the qualifying round, they led with a time of 44.875 seconds. In the final, the duo continued to display outstanding form, completing the race in 43.419 seconds, finishing first ahead of strong competitors from Indonesia and Thailand.
