Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and leaders of the Thailegislative body shared the view that the establishment of Vietnam –Thailand strategic partnership opens a new chapter in the friendlyand cooperative ties between the two countries.
During theirmeetings in Bangkok on June 26, the Vietnamese Party leader and ThaiPresident of the National Assembly (NA) cum Speaker of the House ofRepresentative Somsak Kiatsuranont, and Senate President NikomWairatpanij agreed that the partnership will lay a firm foundation forthe two countries to deepen their cooperation both bilaterally and inmultilateral frameworks, in the interest of the two peoples, as well asfor peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and theworld.
They appreciated the strong development of thecooperation over recent years between the parties, legislative bodies,governments and people of the two countries.
The legislativeleaders of Thailand said the visit of General Secretary Trong has animportant significance and proposed that the two countries strengthentheir cooperation in all fields, especially in rice production andtrade.
For his part, General Secretary Trong briefed the hostson the result of his meeting with the Thai PM, as well as majororientations and detailed measures to foster the multifaceted tiesbetween the two countries in the coming time.
The VietnameseParty leader welcomed the cooperation between the legislative bodies ofthe two countries in practical and appropriate forms, includingmaintaining the annual exchange of visits to enhance mutual trust andunderstanding, boosting cooperation in monitoring the implementation ofsigned agreements and treaties, as well as supporting each other atregional forums.
Hosts and guest expressed their belief thatASEAN member nations will enhance solidarity, cooperation, and worktogether to deal with international and regional multilateral issues,including those related to the East Sea .
GeneralSecretary Trong called upon the hosts to help create favourableconditions for Vietnamese overseas in Thailand in their livelihood andbusinesses, who he said will serve as a bridge of friendship between thetwo countries.-VNA
