Party leader Trong begins official visit to Cuba

The visitis being made at the invitation of the First General Secretary of theCommunist Party of Cuba’s Central Committee and President of the CubanState Council and Council of Ministers, Castro Ruz.

WelcomingVietnam ’s Party leader and his delegation at the airport were JoseRamon Balaguer, Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s CentralCommittee and Head of the Commission for External Affairs, and VictorGauce, Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba’s Central Committeeamong others.

Giving a speech to a press conference at theairport, General Secretary Trong expressed his joy at visiting Cuba ,a country he described as beautiful and heroic.

“Despite beingon the other side of the world, the mention of ‘ Cuba ’ impliesheroism, uprightness, an indomitable spirit, national freedom, socialismand internationalism to the Vietnamese people,” said GeneralSecretary Trong.

He said that Vietnamese-Cuban relations arefraternal, sincere and unambiguous. After decades of revolutionarystruggle, he added, that ties are always developing further and becominga symbol of the age.

The visit underlines the Vietnamese people’s solidarity and friendship with the Cuban people, said Trong.

Heexpressed his strong support for the Cuban people under the leadershipof the Communist Party of Cuba in its struggle to protect itsindependence, revolutionary achievements and national construction anddevelopment that follows the socialist path.

Trong further saidthat during the visit, senior officials from both countries will discussmeasures to continue enhancing their traditional friendship andcomprehensive cooperation to meet the revolutionary demands of bothnations in the future.

General Secretary Trong extended the Vietnamese people’s warmest friendship and solidarity to the Cuban people.-VNA
