Party, State leaders pay tribute to Uncle Ho

A delegation of the Party, State, National Assembly, Government andVietnam Fatherland Front on February 6 paid tribute to President Ho ChiMinh at his mausoleum in Hanoi on the occasion of the 83rdfounding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lunar NewYear.

The delegation, which included Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime MinisterNguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, alsolaid a wreath at the monument to heroes and martyrs on Bac Son Street.

Also on February 6, Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong met with members of the Politburo and the Secretariatof the Party Central Committee, leaders and former leaders of the Party,State and Vietnam Fatherland Front as well as veteran revolutionariesto wish them a happy new year.

The Party leaderstressed that the achievements of last year were the results ofconcerted efforts of the entire nation, which manifested the strength ofthe national unity bloc and created favourable conditions for thecountry to strive for yet greater success in 2013.

He called on the entire Party, army and people to have firm faith andwork with unanimity and determination, to bring the country out ofdifficulties, overcome challenges to continue with firm developmentsteps.

In Ho Chi Minh City , a delegation of themunicipal authorities and Fatherland Front also paid tribute toPresident Ho Chi Minh, President Ton Duc Thang and fallen soldiers onthe occasion of the lunar new year.

The same day,the delegation attended a ceremony to offer “Banh Tet”, the traditionalNew Year food of the southern region, to the nation’s legendary founder –the Hung kings, in line with the Vietnamese tradition of worshippingancestors. -VNA
