Petrol imports have declined in both volume and value, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Statistics from the ministry showed that during the first seven months of this year, Vietnam imported about 4.25 million tonnes of petrol valued at nearly 4 billion USD, decreasing 26 percent and 28 percent, respectively, over the same period last year.
The ministry forecast the volume of petrol imports into the country for the full year would not be as high as that of last year.
Vietnam also needed to speed up work on oil refinery projects, especially at the Nghi Son oil refinery, in an effort to further reduce petrol imports.-VNA
