The Phnom Penh authority has asked the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) to stop collecting signatures or fingerprints in public areas or at resident places in Phnom Penh.

Phnom Penh Deputy Governor Khuong Sreng said in a statement on October8 that the petition has disrupted public order and triggered annoyanceto local people, while calling on the opposition to collect fingerprintsonly at its offices.
CNRP has been collecting signaturesfrom its supporters who have protested the general election’s resultsannounced by the National Election Committee.

CNRP plans tocollect 3.5 million signatures to present to the UN and internationalcommunity on October 23, the day it plans hold another mass protest.

Official results of the July 28 election gave the rulingCambodian People's Party 68 seats in parliament, ahead of the 55 seatswon by the CNRP.-VNA
