Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to establish a State Appraisal Council to appraise the first phase of Ho Chi Minh City’s metro line No 5 between Sai Gon Bridge in Binh Thanh district and district 8 and report to the Government.

HCMCity (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has decided to establisha State Appraisal Council to appraise the first phase of Ho Chi Minh City’smetro line No 5 between Sai Gon Bridge in Binh Thanh district and district 8and report to the Government.

Ministerof Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung will be the head of the council.

Itsmembers will be from the Government Office, the State Bank of Vietnam,ministries, and the city People’s Committee.

Theywill appraise the necessity of the project and its impact on the city’ssocio-economic development besides the builders’ experience and financialcapability.

Theproject’s developers have been told to provide all necessary documents andinformation to the council. The council will be disbanded when it completes thetask.

Inthe first phase, line No 5 will intersect line No 1 at Sai Gon Bridge and lineNo 2 at Bay Hien intersection in Tan Binh district.

Itis expected to begin operation in 2025, linking outlying districts with thecity centre. The city will have six lines in all.-VNA
