PM congratulates first female Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Chea Kimtha on being appointed as the first female Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam during a reception in Hanoi on April 7.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhcongratulated Chea Kimtha on being appointed as the first female CambodianAmbassador to Vietnam during a reception in Hanoi on April 7.

The PM also congratulated Cambodia on its great achievements in internal and external affairs,especially successfully assuming its role as ASEAN 2022 Chair.

He expressed his belief that Cambodia willsuccessfully organise the seventh National Assembly election and the 32nd Southeast Asian Games. Vietnam is ready to support and shareexperiences to help Cambodia successfully host this important regional sportingevent, he said.

Chea Kimtha, for her part, expressed her delightat the positive development of ties between the two countries, especially the positiveoutcomes of the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year 2022.

She thanked Vietnam for assisting Cambodia infighting COVID-19 pandemic and successfully hosting the ASEAN Summit 2022.Vietnam also helped Cambodia organise the SEA Games torch relay event, whichwas attended by around 400 people.

The diplomat vowed to do her best to pushforward the close and effective relationship between the two nations, contributingto their common development and prosperity.

Following the success of Vietnam-CambodiaFriendship Year 2022, PM Chinh said since early this year, the two countrieshave held important cooperation activities and exchange of high-rankingdelegations.

PM Chinh proposed that both sides continue withnegotiations to complete the remaining 16% of border demarcation in order tobuild a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation and development. He suggestedCambodia continue paying attention to handling legal documents for Cambodiansof Vietnamese origin, creating favorable conditions for them to settle downtheir lives.

The guest promised to follow the PM'sproposals to facilitate high-level visits, effectively realise cooperation agreementsbetween the two Parties and Governments, strengthen connectivity between thetwo economies, including both hard and soft infrastructure; continue steppingup the momentum of bilateral trade growth; boost cross-border trade and bordereconomic development; and carry forward education-training and tourismcooperation as well as people-to-people exchange.

On the occasion of the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay Festival 2023, PM Chinh expressed his New Year wishes to the ambassadorand extended his regards and congratulations to King Norodom Sihamoni, QueenMother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, andother high-ranking leaders of Cambodia./.

Bru–Van Kieu community in Quang Tri gear up for early voting

According to the provincial Election Committee, three polling stations in Truong Son commune – located in Hoi Ray, Nuoc Dang and Doc May villages – will organise voting on March 8, seven days before the nationwide election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure, to make it easier for residents in remote areas where travel remains difficult to cast their ballots.

PM proposes “Talented, creative and dedicated women” award

This year’s award went to a group of female scientists from Hanoi University of Science and Technology for their research cluster on applying biocatalysis to enhance the value of Vietnamese agricultural products. The individual award was presented to Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Viet Nga, Director of the Vietnam–Japan Institute of Advanced Technology and senior lecturer at Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, for research linked to environmental protection, energy security and climate change adaptation.

Vietnam co-chairs 5th ASEAN–UK joint cooperation committee meeting

Ambassador Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Head of Vietnam’s Mission to ASEAN, affirmed that Vietnam will work closely with ASEAN member states to achieve the objectives set for the fifth anniversary year.
