Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc lauded former US Secretary ofState John Kerry’s efforts for bilateral ties during a reception in Hanoi onJanuary 18.
The PM also promised to direct agenciesconcerned to consider Kerry’s proposal for a Vietnamese partner to form a joint-venture thatwill build a wind power mill in the country, adding that the Vietnamese Government always considers renewableenergy a priority field.
He said he hoped that Kerry and partners willmake further contributions to Vietnam – US ties.
Kerry, for hispart, said the delegation includes those who previously urged the US to liftembargo on Vietnam and promote partnership between the two countries.
As Vietnam isfacing climate change impact in the Mekong Delta and shortage of power for development, he said he knowsbanks and international organisations that are interested in investing in cleanpower in the country. Therefore, he wished to receive support from theVietnamese Government,ministries, agencies and localities in the regard.
He expressed hisbelief that on the back of the past experience in similar projects in othercountries, the project in Vietnam will be a success.-VNA

In 2019, Vietnam and the US should continue close cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, security, defence and international issues in the lead up to the 25th anniversary of the normalisation of bilateral ties, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
