As many as 100 scholarships have been presented to outstandingstudents from poor families in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho onAugust 29 as a great encouragement for them in the new school year.
The scholarships, worth 1 million VND each, weregranted by Chevron Vietnam Company, PetroVietnam Exploration ProductionCorporation, Japan’s Mitsui Oil Exploration Company and Thailand’s PPTOil and Gas Group on August 29 as part of a programme entitled “Going toschool with students” launched by the National Sponsor Fund forChildren.
Chevron Vietnam Chairman Barry Andrewsaffirmed the donors are proud to contribute to the cause of educationin Vietnam and pledge to continue support for localities in providingpoor children with opportunities to go to school.-VNA
