Cultural, sport event marks VN-Cambodia diplomatic ties

A cultural and sports exchange event was held in Phnom Penh on June 16 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties (June 24).

Phnom Penh (VNA) – The VietnameseEmbassy in Cambodia and the Cambodian Ministry of Foreign Affairs andInternational Cooperation co-organised a cultural and sports exchange event inPhnom Penh on June 16 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of bilateraldiplomatic ties (June 24).

Speaking at the event, VietnameseAmbassador Thach Du said that 2017 marks an important milestone in the twocountries’ relations. Therefore, the joint organisation of celebrationactivities is to make the two countries’ people, especially young generations,understand more about their time-honoured friendship and solidarity.

Minister of State of the Cambodian ministryUng Sean highly valued the bilateral relationship, adding it has been nurturedceaselessly through the exchange of delegations from the grassroots to highestlevels.

After the ceremony, the two sidesparticipated in friendly badminton and table tennis matches.

They also took part in Cambodia’straditional dances and sang songs praising Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity.

Within the framework of activities to markthe 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, a friendlyfootball match between the two countries’ national U17 teams will take place atthe National Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh on June 21.-VNA
