Lao leader visits Vietnam

General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Lao President Choummaly Sayasone toured Vietnam from August 18-21 at the invitation of Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

During his stay, he had meetings with CPV leader Trong and PresidentTruong Tan Sang, and visited Ho Chi Minh City and the CentralHighlands province of Lam Dong.

The two sidesinformed each other of the situation of each party and country, anddiscussed ways to further beef up the Vietnam-Laos special solidarityand comprehensive cooperation.

The Lao leaderthanked the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their precioussupport for Laos over the past years and pledged that the Lao Party,State and people will do their utmost to maintain and promote thespecial ties between the two countries.

PartyGeneral Secretary Trong and President Sang congratulated Laos on theachievements it has made in all fields in recent time, expressing theirbelief that under the leadership of the LPRP, the Lao people willovercome all difficulties to successfully fulfill all set targets.

They said they are delighted at the growing traditional friendship,special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the twocountries, and affirmed that in any circumstances, Vietnam will exertevery effort, together with Laos, to bring bilateral ties to a newheight for the development and prosperity of both nations, as well asfor peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and theworld.-VNA
