Hanoi (VNA) - Party General Secretary To Lam on February 4 requested all agencies, units, and localities to immediately get to work after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, with focus on completing the tasks on schedule for February and the first quarter of 2025.

Chairing a conference of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat to evaluate the implementation of its Directive on organising Tet 2025, Lam appreciated the efforts made by sectors, agencies, units, and localities in thoroughly and effectively carrying out the directive, emphasising that the success of the Tet activities is a favourable starting point for a year full of success.

He stressed the need to further step up traffic safety measures, form a strong awareness of strictly adhering to traffic laws, and implement concerted solutions to reduce traffic congestion and accidents.

The leader also emphasised the importance of continuing to intensify efforts to combat crime, especially cybercrimes, and those exploiting the festival period; and conducting a comprehensive evaluation of consumer demand and purchasing power during the Lunar New Year to develop production management solutions, market orientation, and domestic consumption stimulation strategies.

Lam requested the organisation of festivals in a safe and economical manner, and the strict handling of any forms of exploitation or distortion.

The ministries, sectors, and localities should focus on implementing the plan for the restructuring of the political system so as to ensure that the agencies, after restructuring, operate immediately without interruption and that no tasks are neglected, he stated, stressing the implementation of policies and regimes for officials, civil servants, public employees, and workers affected by the reorganisation.

The Party chief suggested thoroughly preparing the content for the National Assembly's session in February, especially the issues related to the restructuring of the political system and addressing difficulties and obstacles in the institutional framework; and accelerating the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, particularly the tasks that need to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.

There should be a strong determination to implement policies and solutions to achieve the GDP growth target of over 8% set for this year, and create momentum for double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period, Lam said, stressing the need to immediately implement solutions for public investment disbursement and address bottlenecks to promote socio-economic development.

Social welfare policies during the Lunar New Year were implemented in a correct, full and timely manner, with localities providing support and giving Tet gifts to more than 13.5 million beneficiaries. The support was worth nearly 8 trillion VND (317.2 million USD)./.
