Hanoi (VNA)- The Prime Minister has approved a plan to develop a new local-level medicalnetwork by 2025 to improve the capability and service quality of health carefor Vietnamese.
The proposal is aimed atensuring that all communal medical centres are qualified to provide medicalexamination and treatment of patients with health insurance, and able toprovide at least 90 percent of total communal health services. All communalmedical centres will also have to meet the national criteria for communalhealthcare.
In order to achieve theobjectives, the proposal calls for restructuring the existing network,improving the effectiveness of medical centres and providing professionaltraining for medical personnel.
A unified model formedical centres in districts and cities will be developed. Based on this model,the centres should be able to perform all the functions of preventive medicine,medical examination, medical treatment and rehabilitation. — VNA
Health insurance overspending hit 3.4 trillion VND
As of August 2016, health insurance expenditure by 37 localities exceeded their designated expenses by over 3.4 trillion VND. If the trend is not tackled, imbalance will occur in 2019.
