Hanoi (VNA) - Ticket sales for the PyeongChang Winter ParalympicGames have surpassed more than 320,000, a record for the most tickets sold at aWinter Paralympics, the PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic& Paralympic Games (POCOG) said on March 13.
Ticket sales for the PyeongChang Paralympics had reached 320,531 as of March 12,and it surpassed the 316,200 tickets sold for the 2014 Sochi WinterParalympics, the committee said, adding that the amount of sold tickets nearlydouble of that of the Torino Paralympics in 2006.
The organisers said the opening ceremony on March 9 was attended by 21,000people, while 105,966 people purchased tickets for the first three days ofcompetition. They said 90 percent of available tickets for the PyeongChangParalympics have been sold.
According to International Paralympic Committee President Andrew Parsons affirmed:"Athletes are thriving on the energetic support from the crowds and aredelivering some exceptional performances as a result."
As the sport event has grasped the interest of the athletes, countries andmedia, he hoped that ticket sales will increase with six days of competitionahead.-VNA
