Quang Ngai (VNA) - Quang Ngai province has completed its 2025 programme to eliminate substandard and dilapidated houses, with 6,331 households provided with new or upgraded homes.

The results were announced at a conference held by the provincial steering committee for the programme on June 20 to review the work so far this year.

The total investment exceeded 319 billion VND (12.2 million USD), including over 261 billion VND from the state budget and 57.5 billion VND mobilised from businesses, organisations, and individuals.

The programme saw wide-ranging engagement from political and social organisations, guided by the motto that encouraged everyone to contribute what they could, those with means offering resources, and those with strength lending their labour.

Youth unions formed 115 volunteer teams contributing nearly 48,000 workdays, while armed forces supported logistics, demolition, and site clearing. Innovative models such as “zero-cost construction teams” and “community mobilisation units” helped accelerate progress.

Speaking at the event, Secretary of the Quang Ngai provincial Party Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van praised the collective efforts and emphasised the importance of continued support for vulnerable households. She also urged local authorities to assess post-construction housing quality, especially in disaster-prone areas.

The province plans to recommend that sustainable housing support would be included in national target programmes for the 2026–2035 period, in connection with poverty reduction and climate adaptation efforts.

On this occasion, 46 collectives were awarded certificates of merit by the Chairperson of the provincial People's Committee for their contributions to the campaign./.
