Radioactive cloud from the quake-damaged Fukushima reactor explosions do not affect VN.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology said on March 26 thatradioactive cloud from the quake-damaged Fukushima reactor explosions inJapan do not affect Vietnam’s mainland.

The ministry said that on Mar. 25 and 26, the cloud went cross thesouthern part of the Philippines archipelagos and is forecast toarrive in Indonesia and Malaysia in the next few days.

OnMar. 25 the cloud flew near Vietnam ’s Ca Mau Cape off the southernmost province of Ca Mau , but it did not enter the mainland.

It announced that by the end of Mar. 25, no radioactive dispersion had been discovered in the country.

Inan effort to help the Japanese people to overcome difficulties andlosses caused by the natural disasters, during these days, Vietnamesepeople across the country have taken part in campaigns to help Japanesevictims.

The Red Cross Society of Ho Chi Minh City on Mar. 25 handed over 16 million yen to Japanese Consul General Hida Harumitsu.

The same day, it launched a campaign to further raise funds for Japanese victims, which will run until April 15.

Insimilar campaigns, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau raised over550 million VND and the southern province of Vinh Long mobilised nearly540 million VND for Japanese victims./.

Three new plant species discovered in Nui Chua National Park

The newly discovered species are shrub-like smaller trees with floriferous branchlets called Sam cuong dai (Memecylon longipedunculatum), Diep ha chau Nui Chua (Nymphanthus adenophorus) and Long muc Nui Chua (Wrightia nuichuaensis). Their discovery was officially published in Phytotaxa, a leading international journal on plant taxonomy and biodiversity, on January 19, 2025.
