Moscow (VNA) – Russia’s Republic of Khakassia is interested in developing cooperation, especially in tourism and trade, with Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, said its head Valentine Konovalov.

He also mentioned a number of other areas with high expectations for collaboration, including light industry, food, agriculture and manufacturing.

The Republic of Khakassia is ready to continue to develop these relations, he said, adding that Khakassia also offers full packages of investment projects for investors, including foreign ones, in the industries.

Regarding tourism, Konovalov said that over the past five years, Khakassia has increased investment in infrastructure by 7.5 times to build modern hotels, public spots and tourist destinations, making them more convenient for visitors.

According to him, there's a high prospect for cooperation with Vietnam, China and other countries in this field because Khakassia is ready to welcome foreign tourists, and its people also like to travel to Southeast Asian countries.

A record number of more than 1 million tourists visited Khakassia last year, he said./.
