Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s women’s futsal team returned home on December 19 carrying a landmark achievement: their first-ever SEA Games gold medal, secured in emphatic style at the 33rd SEA Games.
The champions capped a flawless tournament with a commanding 5–0 win over Indonesia in the final, underlining their growing stature in regional futsal.
Earlier, Vietnam had swept past Indonesia and Myanmar in the group stage before eliminating the Philippines in the semifinals.
Head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang said this gold medal is the result of long-term preparation and the players’ relentless effort.
He also praised the squad’s tactical discipline, resilience and steady improvement throughout the competition.
The team arrived home in two groups, touching down in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi on December 19 to a warm welcome. After a short break, the players will rejoin their clubs for the 2025 National Women’s Futsal Championship, starting on December 29.
More than a title, the SEA Games triumph marks a turning point for Vietnam women’s futsal — and a clear statement of ambition for the challenges ahead./.
