Senior officials meet to prepare for ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit

The ASEAN-India Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) convened a working session in New Delhi, India, on January 23 to review preparations for the ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit slated for January 25 in the city.
Delhi (VNA) – The ASEAN-India Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) convened aworking session in New Delhi, India, on January 23 to review preparations forthe ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit slated for January 25 in the city.

AVietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung, who isalso head of SOM ASEAN Vietnam, attended the event.

Atthe meeting, Vietnam, as the coordinator of the ASEAN-India relations, andother countries agreed on the agenda and activities of the CommemorativeSummit.

Leadersof the countries are expected to review the cooperation between the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and India over the past 25 years, roll outcooperation orientations in the time to come, and discuss regional and internationalissues of shared concern.

Theywill also have a retreat to talk about the enhancement of maritime cooperationbetween the ten-member group and India.

TheDelhi Declaration is set to be issued at the end of the event.

As part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of theASEAN-India dialogue relations, the senior officials of the two sides visitedthe ASEAN-India textile exhibition and the ASEAN-India youth awardceremony.-VNA
