Singapore, Morocco enhance bilateral cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – Singaporean Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs andDefence Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman discussed measures to foster bilateralcooperation with Moroccan high-ranking officials on March 29 in Morocco’scapital Rabat during his visit to the country.

Ina meeting with Moroccan Minister for National Defence Abdeltif Loudyil, the twoofficials focused on ways to bolster military and defence cooperation.

Accordingto a statement released following the meeting, the two countries will step up exchangeof technical expertise in cyber security, maritime safety and defence industry.

Onthis occasion, the Singaporean Minister commended the considerable progressmade by Morocco in recent years, praising the country’s active commitment topeace and stability at the regional and international levels.

Duringhis visit, Osman met with the host’s Foreign Affairs and InternationalCooperation Minister Nasser Bourita. The two sides lauded the bilateralfriendship and cooperation in various fields, which were given an importantimpetus after the official visit of Morocco’s King Mohammed VI to Singapore in2005.

Discussionstouched also upon Morocco's candidacy for the status of "Sectoral DialoguePartner" with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), in whichSingapore assumes the rotating chairmanship.

Inaddition to Osman's visit, a Singaporean economic delegation, composed ofleaders of major businesses, is expected to meet with representatives ofministerial departments and the private sector to explore investment andpartnership opportunities in various areas, including engineering,infrastructure, food processing industry, and aeronautics and electronics. - VNA
