Spanish businesses look towards Vietnamese market

Leaders of nine businesses in the Spanish Region of Basque Country are visiting Vietnam and Singapore from October 6-10 to seek business opportunities and boost their exports of machinery and marble, according to Bilbao City’s Chamber of Commerce.

With apopulation of 91 million, Vietnam is attractive to the Spanish region’senterprises due to its dynamic economy, GDP growth rate and politicaland social stability, a press release issued by the chamber stated.

After recording a trade deficit for two years in a row, the BasqueCountry enjoyed a trade surplus with Vietnam in 2013, with exportrevenue reaching 20.2 million EUR and imports valued at 14 million EUR.

However, during the first seven months of thisyear, the region generated 8.3 million EUR in revenue from sellingSpanish products to Vietnam, whilst spending 9 million EUR on Vietnamesecommodities.-VNA

Vietnam’s reform efforts boost business confidence: Official

FDI inflow into Vietnam surges by nearly 40% in four months

While newly-registered capital declined by 23.8% to 5.59 billion USD, additional capital injections into existing projects increased nearly 3.9 times to 6.4 billion USD. Capital contributions and share purchases in the four months reached 1.83 billion USD, or a 2.1-fold increase year-on-year.

Japanese retailers step up business activities in Vietnam

Aeon – Japan's largest retail group – plans to increase the number of hypermarkets, also known as "Super Supermarket (SSM)" and general merchandise stores (GMS) in Vietnam from 12 as of February 2025 to about 100 stores by 2030. Another large Japanese group, Sumitomo, also aims o open supermarkets in Vietnam, with about 10 stores per year.
