Thai Prime Minister’s trip to Germany a success

The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced on November 29 that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had made a successful state visit to Germany and had assured his host that a general election in Thailand is still slated for February.

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) announced on November 29that Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha had made a successful state visit toGermany and had assured his host that a general election in Thailand is stillslated for February. 

Director-General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for theMinistry of Foreign Affairs Busadee Santipitak said that the PM’s November 27-28 trip to Germany boded well for Thailand, as new guidelinesfor further cooperation indicate that Thailand is benefitting from therecognition of the international community.

In their meeting, the premier discussed issues of security, peace, climatechange, and refugees with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. 

The Chancellor also declared support for the general election in Thailand,expressing hope that it will proceed with transparency and fairness. Gen Prayutassured her that the general election will take place early next year. He alsoasked Angela Merkel to clarify with the European Union Thailand’s commitment totackling illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and humantrafficking. 

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister invited German businessmen to invest in theEastern Economic Corridor’s railway and carmaking segments and to help improveThailand’s vocational education syllabus to produce skilled personnel for theindustry 4.0 era.-VNA
