Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand is planning topromote cross-border trade and investment with its neighbours, particularlyMyanmar.
Deputy Director-General of the Thai Department of ForeignTrade Adul Chotinisakorn said on December 11 that the department hasplanned a project to boost Thailand-Myanmar trade, which will be held on December14 and 15.
He said that the project is scheduled to take place simultaneouslyin Mae Sot district of Tak province and Myawaddy district of Myanmar’s Kayin state.
During the project, the department will match businessoperators from both countries and sign an agreement on exchange of export-importregulations and related information, organise activities to promote logisticsoperators of Thailand and Myanmar, as well as stage a seminar on cross-bordertransportation of goods.
According to Adul, Thailand-Myanmar border trade accounts foraround 80 percent of total trade between the two countries.
During the first 10 months of this year, Thailand-Myanmarborder trade amounted to over 150 billion THB, with Tak noted as a key tradinggateway between the neighbours.-VNA
