Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha on May 23 warned that thecountry’s general election could not be held if there were no peace and order.

TheThai PM made the statement a day after a bomb hit a military hospital in thecentre of the capital city of Bangkok, injuring dozens of people.

Headded that it would be difficult to organise an election if there were bombattacks and conflicts between insurgent groups.

Theleader called for people’s cooperation to ensure security and order in thecountry.

Earlier,Thai authorities announced the initial results of an investigation into theexplosion at Phramongkutklao military hospital in Rajthevi district of Bangkok.

Theattackers were alleged to also be responsible for blasts at Thailand’s NationalTheatre on May 15 and the office of the government lottery on April 5.

After the incident, deputy nationalpolice chief Chalermkiat Srivorakan said that police will set up 27 controlposts in Bangkok operating 24/7 to ensure security.

The locations under tight protectionwill be military steering offices, civil agencies, railway stations, shoppingmalls and airports. Security has also been increased in other major Thaicities.-VNA
